KENT - New works by contemporary realist painter, Bob Lenz, will be shown in an exhibition opening May 31st at The Morrison Gallery in the Old Barns section of Kent, with a Reception from 3-5 pm.

The show, which will feature about 25 still life paintings and eight local landscapes, is the first in about two years for Mr. Lenz, a former top advertising creative director who gave up his career to devote full time to his first love, painting.
"It's been two years since my last show, during which time I have been able to focus and concentrate more deeply on the direction in which I'm painting," says Mr. Lenz. "Some call my paintings Contemporary Realism, but they're created on a base of classic fundamentals with a great emphasis on drawing, which I believe is essential for every painter."

As a painting and Fine Arts major at the University of Illinois, Lenz exhibited oil and watercolor landscapes and still lifes throughout the Chicago area during the late fifties and early sixties. Upon graduation he migrated to New York and began a successful and award winning career as an advertising creative director responsible for numerous major, memorable campaigns.

Thirty five years later, in 1998, he returned to his first love, painting. Since then he has studied at the Silvermine School of Art in New Canaan, CT., the Washington Art Association in Washington CT., the National Academy of Design and the Art Students' League in New York City. Now living in South Kent, Connecticut and New York City, he is exhibiting again and has resumed a committedl and prolific career as a painter and printmaker.
